In these dark times, music brings light - it makes us feel better and brings us together. More than ever, music feels hugely important for our mental health and wellbeing.

That Music Feeling is a new* evolving EML 'thing'** designed to celebrate and explore the emotional impact of music in different ways - from playlists, podcasts and photography to videos, events and maybe even some merchandise.

It’s all about getting closer to - and sharing - that amazing feeling you get from music, whether’s it’s an eyes-closed moment of pure escapism and euphoria in the middle of a gig, or a wave of dopamine surging through your brain when you hear a song that moves you.

First up - That Music Feeling in live music.

While we're deprived of getting together at gigs, we've teamed up with some ace local photographers to curate a series of special photos from recent Edinburgh gigs that really capture the energy and emotion of live music.

Every day for the next month, we'll post one carefully selected and incredible photo of a special live music moment in Edinburgh across the EML social channels (@weareEML). Each week, we’ll show the work of a new photographer.

Kicking things off in week one is James Duncan of EHsix.com. James documents arts and life in Leith where he lives - and he's also kindly taken photos at various EML events. You can follow him on Instagram @EHsix

As well as focusing on the photos, the aim is also to highlight some of the many great gigs in Edinburgh from the last couple of years, the venues that hosted them, the artists and the audience too. And the photographers of course who capture the magic!

While the series runs, we’d love to see photos from fellow Edinburgh music lovers - please share your favourite images from your favourite gigs in Edinburgh. Please tag @weareEML and use #ThatMusicFeeling in each photo!

* I say it’s ‘new’, but as long-time followers will know, music and mental health have been at the heart of EML since day one for reasons you can read about here
