4 ace acts coming to Edinburgh - Part 2

This is Part 2 of my look at some of the great acts coming to Edinburgh in the coming months. Get those tickets in and the gigs in the diary!

1 Stealing Sheep

The Caves, Wed 27 Nov

From Liverpool with love come this impossible-not-to-fall-in-love with all-female art-school indie-disco-synthy- dance pop-tinged trio. This will be a joyous Wednesday evening well spent, I promise.

2  The Twilight Sad

The Usher Hall, Sat 30 Nov

I’m embarrassingly late to the joys of the Sad, but I’m hooked. Watching them support The Cure recently was magical. The passion, emotion and honesty of James Graham’s performance blew me away. The shock, happiness and tears on his face as he soaked up the moment still linger in my mind. ‘It Won/t Be Like This All The Time’ is a belting rush of an album. Can’t wait for this one.

3 Aldous Harding

Summerhall, Sun 1 Dec

From New Zealand comes Aldous Harding, a singer for those who appreciate music and performance on the artistic side. Haunting, challenging, poetic and captivating like fellow originals Kathryn Joseph and Kate Bush. If you don’t know her, watch this incredible performance on Later with Jools Holland.

4 Jon Hopkins

The Usher Hall, Wed 4 March

This one’s a way off yet but be warned, tickets are running low already. And it’s no wonder. Jon Hopkins has been producing some of the most interesting and challenging electronic music on the planet for years. For this special seated show, he’ll be exploring ‘both the techno side and the meditative side’ of his music, including spells playing grand piano. In the elegant surroundings of The Usher Hall, this should be a match made in heaven. Check out the show trailer below.
